A Butler High School student on the second day of summer break was killed late Thursday morning in a three-vehicle wreck on Pineville-Matthews Road in south Charlotte.
The victim was
Brian Christopher Garlock, 17, who would have been a junior in August at Butler.
Police say he was driving a 2000 Honda Civic and was trying to make a left turn from Blue Heron Drive onto westbound Pineville-Matthews Road about 11:50 a.m.
According to police, Garlock pulled into the path of a pickup truck that was eastbound on Pineville-Matthews Road and was struck on the driver's side by the truck. The collision then pushed Garlock's car around, and it was hit on the passenger's side by another truck that was eastbound on Pineville-Matthews Road.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.
Neither driver of the trucks involved in the wreck was injured.
Garlock had been a starting member of the Butler High golf team as a sophomore.
