Notes for Joseph Johnson Hoge
In about 1796 Joseph and Barbara moved from Montgomery Co., VA to Wythe (now Tazewell) Co., VA, and about 1803-4, the family moved to Roane (now Bledsoe) Co., TN. He was one of the first County Commissioners, in 1807, of newly formed Bledsoe Co. He served as a Lt. in the Creek War (War of 1812).
He was an uncle of Gov. James Hoge Tyler of VA.125
